Brighton-based design studio Gomi have released a range of portable speakers made from recycled plastic called Collection One. The idea for the collection is to show consumers the benefits of recycling waste products. Tom Meades, Gomi Co-Founder and Chief Design Officer, said of the speaker, “We are proving that there is a process to recycle properly, that we can make exciting products from waste, and bring beauty and individuality to engineering.”

The collection includes Bluetooth speakers made from plastic waste and emits 50 percent less CO2 than other speakers. The collection also includes three color combinations for consumers to choose from: Panther, Avalanche, and Ultraviolet. Each speaker is handcrafted and powered by a full-range neodymium driver with a bass radiator. Additionally, the speaker uses Second-Life lithium cells recycled from old e-bikes and offers over 30 hours of use on a single 2-hour charge. The speaker is available for $299.
